Mystery Desert wildflower plant

rvsunnAugust 17, 2011

A Mystery Desert wildflower plant appeared in our yard and it is happy. We like it and would like to know what it is.

Thick sturdy olive green leaves and it gets two different flowers on it at the same time. It is definitely xeric because it has not rained here since January.

I have photos to post, but I dont know where to post them. So I can email to you or maybe someone has a idea where to post them?

Here are some links to photos I put on another garden forum if you can access them (says they are waiting approval);

Looks like Sand verbena to me. It's a member of the Abronia family, neat tough plant and is endangered in some areas.
Very pretty.
The link below isn't the most informative one on the Web but it'll give you thumbnail info on the plant.

Here is a link that might be useful: Sand verbena

I'm inclined to say sand verbena as well - although the papery-looking flower reminds me of bouganvellea!
