We've been noticing a brown covering of dirt on some of our trees. It's like a light coating, and we think it's ants, but not sure.
Ants are a problem here, several types cover our yard. What is best to get rid of these pests.

What kind of trees" And where in Texas?

It might be just dirt! Have you had much rain recently?

It might also be a mold or mildew, if you have had a lot of rain.

Ants are seldom pesty enough to be worth the trouble of killing them, unless it's fire ants.

What specific behaviors are causing the problem?
