Shop display case turned into terrarium

marylee1258July 5, 2010

I was in our local thrift shop when I happened on this display case. For $50 and an extra $20 to have it delivered, it became my latest project. It was already wired with two 24 inch fluorescent fixtures, and six outlets (behind the mirrors) so a lot of the work was already done for me. I have added six more CFL, a fan and the waterfall. The biggest issue however was waterproofing the wood - which is something closer to particle board than real wood. I'm not sure how long this will hold up with the high humidity inside it, but its been a great learning project.

Now that's a nice terrarium. Nice and big!
Love it!
You are lucky to have found such a nice case for so little money too!
