Fantastic Plant! Hydnophytum?

Cdfortin(GA)March 12, 2006

Hello everyone! I've been very busy for the past couple of weeks, but somehow I managed to find time to go to the local ABG (atl. botanical garden). Well, I came accross this very unusual plant in the orchid house that I *think* is a type of hydnophytum. It's very beautiful...looks like coral in an aquarium.

Does anyone have any info on this plant? Ever kept one in a vivarium? I have a hydnophytum formicarium (it's just plain green) in my terrarium, and it thrives.

Links to pics are below!

Thanks!

hello
have no personal experience but have kept several types of ant plant.
Have you searched Cloud jungle epipiphytes?? They have an incredible array of tropical plants. very reasonable prices also. The only fault is that they are usually out of whatever I'm looking for lol

Gary, do you think this is an ant plant? Or some other type of epiphyte? I did check could jungle, and they don't have this.

Thanks

No, it's no Hydnophytum. I believe it's one of the ant-ferns. Lycanopteris (spelling is probably off), I think. Try to search under that.

dravenxavier you are definitely correct! Thanks! Upon further researching these plants, they seem to be good candidates for terrariums!
