How long is your winter?

ryseryse_2004April 10, 2014

I am in NW IL and we have a good 6 mos. of winter. We are hoping to move to TN within the year and I am wondering how far ahead of us you are?

Do you have leaves on the trees? What flowers, if any are in bloom right now? We are deciding on TN because although I will always want four seasons, we really hate the long winters here. We are both outdoors people.

Many of our trees are, or already have, flowered. Many have started growing leaves, but few are fully leafed out.

Various deciduous magnolias were in bloom a few weeks ago. Redbuds are blooming big time right now. Many members of the Prunus genus have been in bloom for a while. We are right in the middle of dogwood season (with the Dogwood Arts Festival, here in Knoxville). Tons of other types of trees are blooming, but I think the ones I have listed are probably the more commonly noticed around here.
