Will ladybugs get the aphids?

Scott F Smith(6B/7A MD)June 15, 2006

I have lots of aphids on my tomatoes now but the plants are still looking pretty happy and there are lots of ladybugs, so I was going to hope the ladybugs will clean up. On my fruit trees I usually don't spray aphids unless the leaves start to look all curled up, because the ladybugs eventually come along and clean up all the aphids. Does anyone have experience with letting ladybugs do their work on their tomatoes?

I also have had a lot of aphids on my tomatoes this year. I don't remember them being a problem in the past. I have some lady bugs, but they were not keeping up with the aphids. I started blasting them off every couple of days with the hose, and that has really reduced the population. You might try that 'till the ladybugs catch up.
