Rot? Whiteflies?

janame(San Jose (9))July 13, 2005

My garden center "Pineapple" has grown its first tomato! Unfortunately, it's deformed. Any ideas on what this is? Catfacing?

Also, my garden center "Roma" broke out in a terrible combo or red and black aphids, as well as little white jumpy creatures. Any idea on the identity of the white guys? Whitefiles?

Catfacing?

Looks like it. Not uncommon for first tomatoes at all.

Any idea on the identity of the white guys? Whitefiles?

Again, looks like it to me, from your picture. Go to the link I've provided to compare.

Wow, that is a great picture. Sure looks like they are getting along--if the white ones flutter up when disturbed could be whitefly. I think I would put a plastic bag over all those visitors you have and snip the branch into it. Then spray with Safer insect. soap.
