The soil where we live is mostly red clay. How should l prepare the soil to plant Iris bulbs?

Add lots of OM it will help loosen the clay up.

Organic material. Such as compost mulch lots of stuff i had clay in half my garden and sand in the other half. I added lots of OM to both sides and they are both a lot better.
