What kind of tree is this? (link)

I don't know my nut trees. At first, I thought is was some sort of a rain tree, but check the photo and tell me what I have...

Is it growing wild or is it a planted tree? Looks like a black walnut (Juglans nigra), and, if you found it growing wild, that's probably what it is. If you have reason to believe that's not what it is, let me know and we'll go from there.

It's hard to say if it looks like a wild growth. It is in a cleared area.

Now that you have given me the name, I have searched the net and the photos seem to match this tree. So you are probably right.

I have been doing so much stuff in the house that I have barely ventured 50' from the home.... here on 8 acres. I'm looking forward to taking a slow walk around to see what exists here.

Brandon, you are certainly welcome to visit though it would probably be far more pleasant when the weather is cooler. I'm in Holston Hills.

Sounds like a deal. Maybe when it cools down a little, you can come over and give me ideas for my farm and I can come take a look at your place. Every visitor seems to give me a few ideas I can use, but not very many have come over yet. Of course my place is not nearly as interesting as it would be if the trees were larger and everything was more developed.
