re: c jencks' garden

adrian smithSeptember 26, 2001

"Charles Jencks and his wife, the late Maggie Keswick, collaborated in the design of this extraordinary landscape of twists, folds and waves of energy derived from Jencks's obsession with complexity science and chaos theory and Keswick's interest in Chinese gardens. Portrack is a series of gardens which stimulate all the senses: taste, smell, touch, sight, hearing - and Jencks's newly invented sense, anticipation. New developments are underway." Head Gardener, Alistair Clark.

Didn't know Maggie Keswick had passed away. She really understood Chinese gardens. A great loss for all of us.

I have just come back from a visit.
Absolutely stunning, beautiful, words fail
This places you where a garden should, in the universal centre and everywherewhen else.
I am a fifty something garden pro,and seen a lot of gardens but have never seen anything that even begins to approach this.
The last time I felt this exhilarated was the birth of my son, !7 years ago.
Go if you possibly can...it will change you!
