tropicalesque garden with citrus and roses?
I am planning a zen looking front yard (of my craftsman home) and a tropical garden in the back. The house that we bought comes with an eclectic mix of plants including a giant bird of paradise (which we had to divide and move), two mature peach trees, a 30' tall orange, a lemon tree, two huge oleanders, roses, etc. DH and I have a collection of citrus that we moved from the old home that we had (meyer lemon, kumquat, mandarin). We added a few bananas, varigated ginger, canna, fatsia japonica, elephant ear, and a plumeria in pot. We plan on getting japanese maple and bamboo. We want to go tropical but we're unwilling to give up the fruit trees or roses. How should I incorporate all these and have a lush tropical garden?
