Can anyone ID this yellow/orange tropical flower?

mlhst29July 21, 2008

This picture was taken in the Dominican Republic. It is a bulb & has been transplanted to my New England garden & is thriving. I'm trying to identify it in order to know how to help it survive through the winter.

Looks like a Canna, what does the foliage look like?

I think Canna is exactly what it is. The leaves are very broad, long green leaves (similar to banana plant leaves but smaller).
Thank you.
