storing elephant ears -alocasia and colocasia?

greenpassion(z4-z5 VT)July 31, 2009

I have two types of elephant ears, a black magic, which is a colocasia (I think) and a bright green on named Elena, which is an alocasia. Both are potted on my deck and doing great. Can I store the bulbs in peat moss in a dark cool place, like dahalia's?

hey green passion,
both of your plants can be stored like dahlias, or they can be kept in the pots and allowed to go dormant.. btw, elena is a colocasia as well.

Good to know. Storing my elephant ears for the first year too! :-)

I couldn't believe storing my dahlias actually worked. (I always think things aren't going to work as well as I read about... and I'm often right. haha.) But, now I have about forty dahlias.
