Woman shot in hospital bed

october17(5chgo)July 17, 2013

How about this one? Can you believe?

Hospital is in a high crime area.

Gotta love this country.

What kind of gun can shoot a bullet that goes a mile away and still goes through a window and a person? Are there many guns that are able to do this?

There's somethin' happenin' here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Tellin' me, I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong

Young people speakin' their minds
Gettin' so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

What a field day for the heat (Hmm, hmm, hmm)
A thousand people in the street (Hmm, hmm, hmm)
Singing songs and carrying signs (Hmm, hmm, hmm)
Mostly say, hooray for our side (Hmm, hmm, hmm)

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep

It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line,
the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
We better stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

We better stop, now, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
We better stop, children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

one of my favorite songs but what does it have to do with the topic, what am I missing?

Any bullet fire from a long barrel has the ability to travel over a mile un obstructed. But they usually lose much energy beyond several hundred yards. There are always those instances which defy any reason. It6 had to have been fired from a high point or up into the air as bullets have a huge drop beyond 200 yards, I am talking feet not inches.

That's just wrong on so many levels. You're supposed to get well in hospitals. grr!

"There's a man with a gun over there", but what is the sound "over there" fancifowl? Isn't it a gun shot? The hospital patient heard a loud pop and then had pain where she was shot. I thought it fit well. And I never really looked at the song that way until Don!

Yeh, I can get that I guess. I just relate it to the turmoil of the 60s, a political thing about the govt. kinda relates to the KentSstate shooting even tho it predated that event as I recall?.

When I was hospitalized in November, I had to get some things from the hospital safe and a security guard brought them to my room. While there, he got a call. After he finished, he said, "I hate it when people bring guns to the hospital." I asked him if it was a patient or a visitor and he said a patient had just brought one in.

So, that made me feel better and worse. At least guns were being confiscated when patients checked in. But what kind of nut would bring a gun with him? Maybe he was being admitted to the locked ward. And, visitors aren't checked, so I'm sure there are firearms brought into that hospital daily. Doesn't make me feel safe at all.

While DH was hospitalized a man walked into a hospital and shot and killed his wife, shortly afterwards a man tried to commit suicide in the hospital parking lot. The hospital is located in an outter ring suburban area and in both cases they were elderly white males.

I remember the story (sure there are many others) of the young girl standing next to her father in the driveway of their home (think it was new years?) in New Orleans and was shot and killed by some "einstein" that shot a rifle from some distance away.

These are actually very common occurrences.

Following the big post-Sandyhook gun buyin' / CC carry rush, the TSA is setting records for the number of guns confiscated at airports:

25/May/2013

"The TSA announced a dubious record this week, reporting that it had seized 65 firearms at airport security checkpoints.

The seizures buried the previous mark of 50 guns, the TSA reported, and included 54 loaded weapons -- 19 of which at [sic] rounds chambered."

"Oh, gee, sorry Officer. I forgot I had a gun in my carryon with a round in the chamber. Good thing nobody got shot, eh? "

"Investigators now believe two correctional officers may be responsible for the accidental shooting.

Multiple casings were found on the roof of a nearby parking garage, where the pair was standing at the time of the shooting Monday night, according to KYW."

Well...doesn't that link just 'explain it all'? Huh? Two correctional officers were standing in the parking area doing WHAT? More great journalism.

The song has nothing to do with guns or anti-war.

Stills recounts writing the song in reaction to escalating unrest between law enforcement and young club-goers on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles County, California.[5] The song's title appears nowhere in its lyrics; it is more easily remembered by the first line of chorus: "Stop, children, what's that sound?"

Young club patrons protesting a 10PM curfew.

Did the woman shot ever smoke maryjane, how was her attendance record in school ... does she have a juvenile record? All this plays into why she was shot.

She needs to be investigated ... imagine blaming "authorities" when we all know that she created this situation and has no one to blame but herself.

Hey I am getting the hang of this ...

Oh and that kid standing in the driveway at night that was shot? Yep she was "breaking curfew" her father should be charged not the shooter.

There's absolutely nothing on Google, but the same repeat of the "update". Verbatim. Poor woman caught up in a totally senseless situation.

The initial reporter must have D'd or F'd his/her journalism couse where they taught "who, what, when, where, and why".

The main question remains begging - what were two (alleged) corrections officers (alleged) doing shooting from a parking garage roof (alleged) in the first place? I guess we wait for the union rep to appear, the alleged two to get suspended with pay, and the lawyers start circling.

âÂÂThere are certain neighborhoods that are in close proximity to this hospital that have a high rate of crime and a high incidence of drug activity.âÂÂ

In a town of 3,000 people. The place must be under siege.

Think Chester has more than 3,000 residents. It has the unfortunate designation as a financially distressed municipality, though. The shipyard and auto plants went long ago, but they got the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution at Chester plus Harrah's Casino and Racetrack.

Yes, you're right about Upland...

This is from the AP in the Delaware Online: "Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan is investigating if the bullet came from a crime-ridden area in Chester where gunfire was reported at about the same time Monday night. He said there is a straight path from the neighborhood to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, which is several blocks away in Upland."

This little article (dated 7/17) went on to say the police had "no suspects. But somewhere else I saw there'll be a press conference on Monday.

A few years ago a (now closed) Chicago hospital refused to send ER personnel out to rescue a gunshot casualty his gang had left 35 yards outside the door. It was policy meant to protect personnel, but the family of the (later deceased) sued and were awarded millions.

Today's Chicago Tribune has a story about a man driving through Elgin, IL who suffered what he believed was a heart attack -- near the front door of a hospital. His passenger ran inside asking for help and the desk clerk told her to call 911. She eventually did call 911; an ambulance was dispatched and drove the man around to the rear of the hospital to the ER entrance. The ambulance bill was $900 plus $1 for the distance traveled.
