Is it possible to root guava cuttings?

newgen(9 Central California)September 18, 2010

My inlaws have a guava tree that I harvest fruits from every year. If I just cut off a good sized branch and put it in potting soil, will it root? Thanks

They can be a bit fussy initially with most of the cuttings dying in early stages so I would recommend to take as many cuttings (only the green parts, no the woody) as possible to ensure that some survive (also use the rooting hormones). Another method which is more successful is Air-layering.
