strange seed from mandevilla

Hi all -- I had a strange seed pod on my mandevilla with what looks like a coffee bean or lotus seed inside? Thoughts? I was under the impression that mandevilla seeds are "wispy".

As far as I know they are, little rods with a tuft of fluff. Can you post a pic? Might it be an allamanda, not a mandevilla? Even then the seeds don't look like coffee beans or lotus seeds.
