Pot up or punt?

I have some plants in cells about the same volume as typical nursery four packs. I usually plant my toms about the first of May. Is the remaining two weeks enough time to allow for decent root growth if I pot those up to say ten ounce cups? Don't want the root balls to fall apart when I plant them.

Sorry for the double post. Darn iPhone.
If your plants are the size of nursery 4pack size, (meaning the have about 3 sets of true leave or more) Then within the next two weeks (Till May 1st) they should be a good size. I would go ahead and pot them now. I would use something bigger than 10 oz. cup. You want good root development.
Agree. Pot them up, much safer approach than letting them get root bound.

OK. I potted up to 4" pots. I had to put together a kind of cold frame against a south facing wall because the newly potted up plants were not going to fit back in my indoor plant rack. Had a couple of glass patio doors and some translucent plastic sheet, so the toms have a kind of greenhouse now. I think they'd be safe in there even if we have a mild frost. Thanks for the advice.
