Dwarf Red Buckeye in bloom

I have waited 4 1/2 yrs for this tree to finally begin blooming and thought I would share it with everyone. It is a major souce of nectar for hummingbirds during spring migration.

Here is a link that might be useful: Aesculus pavia (Dwarf Red Buckeye)

It is winduing down now but sure didn't dissappoint me this year. It has been absolutely beutiful. As the buckey winds down my seed grown crossvine has taken over and it is also blooming for the very first time. It too 3 or 4 years to bloom from seed. For those that don't know it is a spring blooming cousin to the infamous trumpet creeper (Campsis radicans) but it isn't rampant like trumpet creeper and stays where it is planted.
