leaves drying up/ browning on trees

jeanie(Z6)July 7, 2011

Hi all,

I live outside Rochester, We had one one of the wettest springs on record, then only 1.4 inches of rain since early June. I have an established Seven Son flower tree all of the leaves yellowed the turn brown and crispy. I was talking tonight to my neighbor 3 houses down and the same thing is happening/happened to 2 apple trees and a cherry bush. I don't plan on cutting the tree down till I see if it comes back next year. We are looking for any ideas/ suggestions. I was thinking of doing the 2 minutes with running hose a week and maybe some tree tone( organic fert.). Has anyone else experenced this or an opinion/ I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance

Jeanie

Seven Sons isn't at all drought tolerant so you should probably be giving it extra water in dry periods and mulch to conserved moisture. I am having a simlar problem with my red buckeye as the soil where it is planted is draining to well.
