Out of zone VA garden

peanut01(7VA)May 31, 2011

Hey I just wanted to share a picture of my out of zone garden that I have been working on for a year or two. I live in central VA and everyday I find other interesting plants that are not seen growing in my area often.

I would always love to hear others suggestions on plants to experiment with.

Currently working with:

Trachycarpus Fortunei

Oleander

Several Crinum varieties

Agapanthus

Garden Amarylis

Agave Parryii Truncata

Cordlyne

A few types of Jasmine/Jessamine

A few Gardenias

A few Opuntia

Needle Palms

Yucca Rostrata

Red Yucca

Eucalyptus

Passiflora

Rain Lilies

Basjoo Banana

Ginger

Any other ideas of some not commonly seen plants that I could add to this garden.

If you're still around, how much of this overwinters? Do you treat some as annuals (ginger, for instance)?
