crepe myrtle accidentially cut back to the ground

jenniferma(7)May 25, 2011

Hi Everyone.. we moved to VA from Ohio in 10/09. My backyard was a complete disaster (overgrown jungle). My father was helping me clear out some of the plants and he sawed a crepe myrtle to the ground. Last year it keep sprouting back up and I would trim it back down... my question is-- if I just let it go, will it grow into a blooming tree?

Sorry for the dumb question.. I really really wish it was still there! Being a Northerner.. my knowledge of crepe myrtle trees was limited and now I really regret it coming down!

I have no idea what type of crepe myrtle it was.. I think it may have had red blooms.

thanks for your advice!

yes let the sprouts grow-next year select one or more depending on weather you want a sigle or multi stemmed tree
