David:

Welcome to the Forum. Our sincere sympathies for your new found addiction. Its terrible and expensive with lots of hard work and heart ache, but it sure tastes good! What variety of Atemoya do you have. This time of year in some growing areas, all the annonas start to look a bit rough. Where are you located in So. California?

Welcome David, looks like you still need a Cherimoya and Lychee to round out your selection. Your plants are looking good considering they are newly planted. Be sure to water them well while they are establishing but also be sure not to overwater.

Many fruit trees slow their growth in the winter and require much less water. Too much standing water in the winter can kill plants easily.

Because your mango is so small you may want to consider some winter protection. It would be very easy to hang some christmas lights on your mango and also build a small frame for it. This may not be necessary depending on where you live buy my inlaws mango trees died last winter here in San Diego without protection.

Good luck with your newly acquired trees and please keep us posted!

That cement block retaining wall should really help all your tropicals in the winter time. The heat absorbed will help warm up the chillier nights for the plants.

Nice looking trees don't any problems besides a possible slight nutrient deficiency on the Pummelo. Just be careful not to over water.

Socal - you can grow lots of yummy stuff there: cherimoya, stone fruits, citrus, grease-cados, persimmon, table grapes, did I mention cherimoya.. :-)

as has been mentioned, it is a very fun/frustrating hobby but success does taste good (typed while eating a home grown banana)

I'm in Torrance, about 10-15 minutes from the beach. I was told by Mimosa that it's a thai atemoya. lol.

Thanks for uploading my pictures. Cause of you I purchased a white sapote sueble. Can't wait to taste the fruit...hahaha. It was like 6' tall so I cutted it down to about 12 inches in hope it branch out more.
My dragon fruits are not doing so good....All new cutting and starting to dehydrate/shrivel.

would love to get a cherimoya and lychee. Actually i'm getting two fresh cutting air layered emperor lychee in december. Hopefully will survive under my care....I would love to hear some advice..like type of soil, plastic bag cover, misting etc....
I'm thinking of using a wooden box to cover the mango and put flex watt heat tape inside the box. Since i have plenty of plywood and some left over heating tape.

Jeffhagen
I'm still deciding on a non astrigent persimmon variety. jiro, hana and giant persimmon, decision decision....lol.

Nice pictures, love the way you did the dragon fruit supports. Also noticed the blue container, I assume this is made from a 30 gal or 55 gal drum cut in half? I do the same, it makes a great low cost container.

Yea, the dragon fruit setups look sweet.
I've been looking for ideas on DF trellis and this is it.
Due to limited space, I've decided to trash all of my white flesh to grow only red-flesh DF.

Thanks for the idea, David.
