Yellow worms vs. red earthworms

tropical_thought(San Francisco)March 19, 2012

I have some regular old reddish worms, but sometimes I see yellowish worms. I thought at first the yellow worms were sickly, but now I think they could be a different type of worm. I mostly have the reddish kind and very little of the yellowish ones. I looked up European worms and they more white, maybe they are ghost worms? I want to find a chart with photos so I compare to see if I have two types of earthworms or if the yellows ones are just unwell.

These are not the tiny red wigglers, they are very wide, but the yellow ones tend to run smaller then the red big ones.

They are all yellow. I looked up earth worms then I found out there are 2,700 different kinds but I only see the reddish ones and these yellow ones.

I wish I took a photo at the time, I saw them. I saw them on two separate occasions, but have not seen them since. They are fairly rare, the yellow worms.

I have yellow worms in my bin too, but only the tails are yellow. Are they sick? or are they a different species?
