holly shrubs froze??

I have long, long established holly shrubs in the front of my house that are browning in sections - could it be from the hard freeze? It really looks TERRIBLE... I thought holly could withstand anything! I have a rosemary bush that doesn't look too great either. Think it is the cold or disease?

I do not think it is cold. They grow way up north. But maybe there is a difference between species of holly. I do sometimes think the rapidity of how fast we freeze makes the cold that much more lethal. Sorry I am of no help.

There are several dozen varieties of hollies. With out knowing more about the variety, it is hard to offer an opinion. There are some varieties of "blue" hollies that do not do well in our area. You can't hardly kill a bufford.

My yaupons look a bit beat up. I'd wait to see if they don't drop the old leaves and leaf out here pretty soon.

Do hollies have a time when they drop leaves like some other evergreens right before they leaf out?
