This bird was a surprise! Never seen an Audubon's Oriole before! Did anyone else spot one in southcentral Texas?

Consider yourself lucky to see a vagrant species - this one is normally found much further south. I've only seen a few vagrants in my career as a birdwatcher, and usually it was with the help of a guide. You should report your sighting to eBIrd if you haven't already.

Oh thanks! I went to that site and reported it. When I was searching for info on this species, I found out that in 2009 some were seen in Medina Co. (my county) and in Bexar, just to east of my area. I knew as soon as I saw it last Friday that this was an unusual bird for my area, but it took a while to ID it!

I've never seen one, either! We are getting goldfinches, feeding at my thistle feeder, though.
