Alternatives to woodbine hedge?

floyd2006January 9, 2007

I thought about growing woodbine on livestock panels as a trimmable hedge, but worry about the ground runners invading the neighbor's yard. Can anyone suggest an alternative that would be as dense and fast growing as woodbine without the creeper problem. Thanks.

Dutchman's pipe (Aristolochia elegans) would work well, but note that this species is not winter hardy, so you'll need to collect seed or take cuttings if you wish to keep it around.
