Best way to get rid of groundcover vines?
I want to reclaim an area for gardening which has Japanese honeysuckle and English ivy layered and rooted down. I've been cutting and pulling the vines off this slope but there's still underground runners and other remnants. So, what else do I need to do to completely clear this area? Use an adze? Wait until the remaining stuff tries to leaf out and spray it with something specific to woodies?
I've got shrubs I'm holding off setting in place until these invasive vines are taken care of.
