Blue worm or African Nightcrawler in Florida

bobvisaaJune 22, 2013

I recently read an article that stated I may be better off using Blue Worms (Perionyx Exavatus) or African Nightcrawlers (Eudrilus Eugeniae) instead of Red worms in Florida, since they tolerate the higher temperatures better. Is there that much of an advantage in using either the Blue Worm or the AfricanNightcrawler? Where would I be able to buy Blue Worms from?

There may be an advantage to using blue worms. Is this an outdoor bin, or is it indoors where you can regulate the temperature? Blue worms reproduce like crazy and they can't survive a cold winter. If your bin is outdoors, I'd go with blue worms. If it is indoors, there really isn't any advantage to using them.

From what I have read blue worms die at tempertures below 50 degrees F. If this is true most of Florida goes below 50 degrees at night at some point in the winter.
