Will wisteria grow down?

goldenbuckeye(5/6 OH)May 11, 2010

My hubby wants to plant a wisteria on top of our root cellar and let it hang down over the front. Has anybody ever had a wisteria grow down? The cellar faces the east so it would get sun till around noon then shade in the afternoon.

I don't know what kind of wisteria it is but it's fragrant. I got it in a trade some years back and I've rooted some by layering it.

If it won't grow down how hard would it be to train it to go up and what would I train it on?
