Please help identify this vine

We started hacking away at it today as it was overtaking a two nearby trees. We've left the body of it for privacy from our neighbors... but I have no idea what it is.

I don't think its a vine, I think its a Eleagnus of some sort. Has it flowered little tiny yellow-cream colored flowers that smell sweet?
