I ended up losing my star Jessamine .It died all the way back .Any one else have this to happen .I just dug it out I am tired of dealing with it .
Yes, I had it happen a year ago and others had theirs die in this last winter's freeze. How I love those fragrant flowers in the spring as well as its (usually) evergreen quality all year long and wouldn't want to be without it. Thankfully there is a variety that is cold tolerant, 'Madison', that one can plant to replace it.
Here is a thread about other's experience with Star Jasmine.
Here is a link that might be useful: Did your Star jasmine survive the freeze?
Mine was new and now is DEAD too! Bummer. I need to look for a Madison this weekend too. I should start keeping the receipts on all my plants.
One thing about these they root so easy in water I always get a few cuttings before it gets cold here and then I have some for spring but so far mine hasnt died its and I have rooted cutting to go down fence a bit.
That is good advice, Angie. I may try that next year.
I just returned from Calloway's in Mesquite and they had the Madison variety, but I had to ask to find it. Most of theirs were the plain, but they did have several Madison's. I also got a cross vine and pink Jasmine.
