My awesome vine is covering my cottage. Since this is the first yr. I have lived here, I am wondering how and when to trim it back.

I also have a silver fleece vine that growns about 45-50 ft per season (I live in the New York City area). I cut it back very hard in early spring before it starts to leaf out - usually early to mid-March. I cut it back to about one foot and found that it thrives (almost too much) with the very severe will start shooting as soon as the weather warms up and will be 30-40 feet in no time. Good luck and love your cottage.

Silver Lace Vine doesn't really NEED fertilizer---it grows so fast without it that it's sometimes called 'Mile A Minute' vine. (*grin*)
