Keeping Cypress plant from frost

I just ordered a cypress vine (hummingbird vine)plug, and now our weather has shifted and we may see or get an early frost before the year is over. I had plans to put the plant somewhere in the yard, which gets 3 hours of sun right now. I do not have a garage or covered patio, but I have a lath house but it gets no sun. Anyone have any ideas what I can do when the plant arrives? Since they are not seeds, is it safe enough to just place outside where I had plants, whether it flowers or not? Thanks for any info anyone has on this vine. I will be a first time Cypress owner.

This will die if left outside in the winter. It is an annual in non-tropical locations.
