Viola adunca or V. riviniana

CalNative(9)February 22, 2013

I have a violet that was sold as a pink flowered Viola adunca. It is somewhat weedy. I understand there is a pink flowered Viola riviniana. How can I distinguish between the two. I welcome a lot of morphological detail.

Hold a leaf up so the sunlight is coming from behind:
- veins paler than the rest of the leaf: V. adunca
- veins darker/same as the rest of the lead: V. riviniana

Thank you very much. I had not seen this character before and it confirms my suspicions.
