Hawk Id Please.

I saw this near my fish pond in suburban Detroit today. It was near the ground, all the sparrows were yacking away. I have 4 telephone poles around the yard about 8 feet off the ground. It was about 16" tall, sleek, small pheasant like. Sorry that the photo wasn't good. I took out my video camera to take the photo because it flew up into the tree and my Video Camera has a better zoom on it. My uncles looked at the photo and thinks its an American Sparrow Hawk. I looked up the photos, its definitely not male sparrow hawk. So any help would be appreciated. Kind of worried about my Koi in the pond.

There is a raptor forum maybe you should post the picture there. It's a great shot. Maybe these pictures will help. To me if they're large they are redtails. If they're small they're sharp shinned or coopers. Sarah
