help in identifying and getting rid of weed

ksannyMay 8, 2010

I'm not able to identify a weed that seems to be growing wild in my lawn this year.

Could you help me identify what the weed is, please? How do you get rid of it... and is there an organic alternative to getting rid of the weed as well?

That looks kind of like early growth of Henbit. Like many "weeds" that are spread along with bird droppings, or are spread around on the wind most cna be kept under control by properly feeding, watering, and mowing of the lawn. Mechanical removal is often the most effective and least expensive means of control.

It looks like Veronica arvensis, corn speedwell, to me.
