mystery weed - North Florida, summer weed

mudsnake(8B)August 16, 2008

I am in North Florida and have many of the weed shown in this link:

Note the small white, ball-like flowers near the stem. It produces a lot of seeds, and spreads rapidly.

If you click on a photo, it will enlarge. This weed grows from spring to fall. I have checked in weed books and cannot find a matching photo. I have also checked at 2 local nurseries and the county extension service. Everyone has seen this plant, but nobody knows its name. Does anyone know what it is?

You have Fatoua villosa, mulberry weed.

Thanks, tyrlych! I have given you credit for identifying it.

Do you happen to recognize the following weed? It has been easier to control, and is kind of attractive.

Hi mudsnake,
Thanks for credit!
Your next mystery looks familiar but nothing certain comes to mind. I will create a topic on the Name That Plant forum and give there a link to your question.
Oh, nearly forgot: your "yellow spreader" is Calyptocarpus vialis.
