got a bat house for Christmas-where to put?

bedford8a(8a)December 26, 2010

I live in suburban Ft. Worth, Texas and am so lucky to have been given a bat house for Christmas. Now I just need to know where to put it.

I was going to hang the box under the eaves of our house, either to the northeast or to the southwest. Which would be better? Last year we had 20+ days over 100 degrees, and I'm worried about frying the little buggers.

Thanks in advance.

You might want to do some reading in the BCI (Bat Conservation International) website for some good information. I've attached the link to a page that will lead you to an excellent pdf file regarding the criteria for installing a bat house.
