hairy jack in the pulpit seeds?

garden_love(4)February 28, 2013

I just received some seeds that are supposed to be jack in the pulpit. They are really hairy. is this normal? The hair comes right off with little effort.

Is the "hair" a fungal growth maybe? JIP seeds are red until they are cleaned and then they are whitish small pearls.

Look at the lower pics in this link:

It doesnt look like any fungal growth i have ever seen. it looks like it has been wrapped in a very soft and long dog hair of sorts. like i said, i can take the hair off as it comes off very easy. its not stuck on the seed its self.
