Woodland's plant identification ..Please

tomasincasApril 23, 2007

Does anyone know what this plant is ,I have about 10-15 of these starting to pop up along with my trilliums. Each leaf appears to have 5 parts and the flowers when starting to form are pinkish in color and turn white when they are fully opened ? I'll try and send photo...Cute little plant though, leaf forms about three inches up, then flowers form about two or so more inches, so total plant height is about 5-6 inches

Looks like Cutleaf Toothwort, Cardamine concatenata(formerly Dentaria laciniata), a native woodland plant found throughout the Eastern US.

Rb, thanks for the ID...went to the link, and it sure looks like the plants that I have, since I cant ever recall seeing the flowers before ,I will assume they dont last long, but I do remember seeing the leafs before and they are kind of neat just by themselves..tnx... here is a picture of just the leaf all by itself...Tom
