Planting a sprig from an existing tomato plant.

esteban_2009(6)July 27, 2014

Hi folks,
I have read these directions on this site and can't find it when I need it.
I would like to take a branch off a tomato plant that is growing and producing well and re-plant it for a fall tomato plant.
I have about 3 months left in the season.
I would like to try this with a determinate.
Once again, thanks for all the help.
Steve

It roots easily in some moistened potting mix...cover loosely with a ziploc bag to keep it from drying out. Should be rooted in a week or so. You don't need a huge branch either.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for the reply.
Will any branch work? Can I plant it directly into the ground or must I go thru the process you described?
Thanks again,
Steve
