Information then and now...

The following website is an entire small book reproduced including illustrations. It is such a gem I well understand the urge to share.

The second web address is a current information source.

What a juxtaposition!

Isn't this kind of like mixing apples and oranges?

One is a very artful book about Dutch bulbs and gardens (with quite a bit of history thrown in); the other is an online catalogue. For a proper comparison, you need to dig out a turn-of-the-twentieth century bulb catalogue (which would most likely be illustrated with line drawings and black and white (or hand-colored) photographs.

John, you would think so but that is the source of delight.
That a web search for information concerning spring bulbs should retrieve such gems.
Did you read the poem about snowdrops?

All weak and wan, with head inclined,
Its parent breast the drifted snow,
It trembles, while the ruthless wind
Bends its slim form; the tempest lowers,
Its emerald eye drops crystal showers
  On its cold bed below.
Where'er I find thee, gentle flower,
Thou still art sweet and dear to me!
For I have known the cheerless hour,
Have seen the sunbeams cold and pale,
Have felt the chilling wintry gale,
And wept and shrunk, like thee

Yes. I agree. It is beautiful. But why compare it to a modern online catalogue? I can appreciate the one without having to peruse the other for comparison.
