Pansies in turf

carmellia(z 4 Minn)June 23, 2006

Some previous owner must have planted johnny jumpups along side my house and I am finding that they scoff at herbicides that have rid the area of everything from plantain to dandelions. The pansies aren't even slightly miffed. I have been very careful to pick off blooms to keep them from spreading any farther, but if you could suggest something that will get rid of them completely, I would appreciate it very much. Dear Carmellia,

Thank you very much for the inquiry. My suggestion is that you mix quinclorac (Drive) with the broadleaf herbicide you have been using. Use a half rate of the broadleaf herbicide and 1/3 rate of the Drive. You may see some activity f from the application this summer, but most likely your best activity will be in early fall.

Again thanks for the inquiry.
