Hillary Ignored Warnings

adoptedbyhoundsSeptember 14, 2012

We lost four American lives in Libya, but that's just the beginning. Now we learn that documents identifying safe houses and Libyans who were trying to help us have gone missing. The negligence/incompetence here is astounding.

FTA: "Yesterday, we reported that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was responsible under the law for the “security policies and programs that provide for the protection of all US government personnel … on official duty abroad.” Clinton herself seemed bewildered by the attacks on the Libyan consulate, asking, “How could this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction?”

But according to the Independent, she had no reason to be puzzled. Quoting senior diplomatic sources, the paper reports, “the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted.” Nonetheless, “no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and ‘lockdown,’ under which movement is severely restricted.”"

"...the attackers broke the perimeter within 15 minutes of the Libyan mob forming. Local guards did nothing. One witness reported, “The security people just all ran away and the people in charge were the young men with guns and bombs.” According to sources, the Ambassador died from smoke inhalation after he was trapped in a building set on fire and besieged by rioters."

I feel sorry that some accept sites like Breitbart as news.

Me too, Ron... either way you lean, you have to use critical thinking skills, common sense, and sometimes weigh it all with a huge grain of salt. Some of it is just wishful thinking and opinion sprinkled with fairy dust... while some is actual fact complete with evidence.

And then there's actual comprehension, understanding context, being able to admit when you make a mistake, and taking blame when at fault... something Americans in general seem less able to do these days... or so it would seem.

I can't remember the last time I heard anyone say, "I got that wrong... my bad!" or "that can't be right... it doesn't make sense in logical terms".

The fact is Chris Stevens should not have died like that. A comprehensive investigation needs to be had and any facts that come from that will hopefully prevent these kinds of tragedies or at least minimize the risk in the future.

Assigning blame to further a political agenda is not productive.

It's interesting to note, people in North Africa and the Middle East rise up to overthrow dictatorial regimes.... no credit to US policy, Obama, Hillary. People in North Africa and ME rise up (on a much smaller scale) to protest an anti-muslim film.... Hillary and Obama must be at fault. Disingenuous political opportunism or something else?

The cited article in the OP also said this:

the State Department posted no Marines to the consulate. It was staffed instead by those Libyan "security" forces.

And, other right-wing blogs and even TIME (which updated and corrected its earlier report), said the Marines were not allowed to have ammunition in their guns.

Well, here's what the Marine Corps had to say about these ridiculous claims:

From: Cross, Alex Maj OLA, LA-41B
Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2012 4:55 PM
To: Cross, Alex Maj OLA, LA-41B
Subject: Marines in Libya and Egypt

Ladies and Gentlemen-

The following information is provided regarding Marine involvement in the recent actions in Egypt and Libya:

Egypt:
-The Ambassador did not impose restrictions on weapons or weapons status on the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) detachment. The MCESG Marines in Cairo were allowed to have live ammunition in their weapons. The Ambassador and Regional Security Officer have been completely and appropriately engaged with the security situation. Reports of Marines not being able to have their weapons loaded per direction from the Ambassador are not accurate.

But, don't let facts get in your way. Post any and all trumped-up claims, denigrating this administration. And, unfortunately, there are just too many people who will take anything at face value that confirms their beliefs. Then, there are others who look at the source and figure they'll wait for the facts.

If this "source" had the facts wrong about Marines not allowed to guard the Embassy, other "sources" say they were not allowed to have live ammunition, how can we believe anything that is printed by Brietbart.com and other blogs that are anti-Obama? Answer: We CAN'T.

I suspect lots of people have lots of questions.

I want to know how much it would have cost the State Department to put a few sheets of bullet proof glass and armed Marines between the Islamists and the American diplomats they murdered in Syria.

I suspect that the Breitbart blog and the rest of the right-wing noise machine are engaging in some 'push back' because of recent charges by Kurt Eichenwald that the Bush White House was deaf to warnings re 9/11. The Deafness Before the Storm The direct warnings to Mr. Bush about the possibility of a Qaeda attack began in the spring of 2001. By May 1, the Central Intelligence Agency told the White House of a report that "a group presently in the United States" was planning a terrorist operation. Weeks later, on June 22, the daily brief reported that Qaeda strikes could be "imminent," although intelligence suggested the time frame was flexible.

But some in the administration considered the warning to be just bluster. An intelligence official and a member of the Bush administration both told me in interviews that the neoconservative leaders who had recently assumed power at the Pentagon were warning the White House that the C.I.A. had been fooled; according to this theory, Bin Laden was merely pretending to be planning an attack to distract the administration from Saddam Hussein, whom the neoconservatives saw as a greater threat. Intelligence officials, these sources said, protested that the idea of Bin Laden, an Islamic fundamentalist, conspiring with Mr. Hussein, an Iraqi secularist, was ridiculous, but the neoconservatives' suspicions were nevertheless carrying the day.

In response, the C.I.A. prepared an analysis that all but pleaded with the White House to accept that the danger from Bin Laden was real.

Nik, I will repeat here what I posted on another thread after watching the ceremony repatriating the remains of those who were murdered in Libya...not Syria. Hilary Clinton has served her country so well and does not deserve this crap!

"It was so sad to see the look on her face . It was so real and so moving. To tell you the truth for the first time ever I wasn't sure she would make it through without collapsing.
She was clearly devastated. After the President spoke he stepped back and grabbed her hand.

What's interesting to me is that right after 9/11, Bush's approval rating shot up past 90% from everyone. So we have another tragedy and instead of closing ranks, the Republican nominee and his choice for second-in-command are busy pointing fingers every which way.

Such is patriotism, Republican-style.

Listening to the radio this morning, I got the distinct impression that the other Americans killed at the consulate in Libya were private contractor security people. They sure didn't call them "Marines", they called them "Security".

This is something the neocons pushed during the Bush Admin, they use private contractors now for security at many of the embassies and diplomatic missions, not Marines.

In the wake of 9/11, we readily gave up many of our freedoms through the introduction and quick passing of the Patriot Act... are we really ready to bend over and say, "please, sir, may we have another?" and throw our 1st Amendment at whomever stands ready to catch it, over what is, although truly sad, an act of expressing that freedom? It is the extremists that have such little regard for human life that they would take it away over something like this, and then hide behind their faith, that make me wonder about their sincerity. Isn't it better to turn the other cheek, so to speak, and forgive those who sin against us?

I don't think it was right that a filmmaker... and I use that term loosely... expressed his freedom of speech in such an insulting manner, yet it wasn't right for extremists to storm the Embassy and commit murder over such a thing. It renders their faith as meaningless as it renders our freedoms, when we use them without responsibility.

Although, from what my husband tells me, the trailer for the film was very disturbing, and he can understand why some people are so upset over it. Even as an atheist, he was offended by it. There was nothing artistic or creative about it. It was pure hate, serving no purpose.

Even more to the point, in the larger scope of things, we have no business in the Middle East in military capacity, in which we push our ideal of democracy at others, while positioning ourselves strategically for the taking of more fossil fuels. We need to exit the Middle East and leave them in peace to come to their own terms. We can't even take care of our own nation... what makes us think we need to meddle in the politics and governing of other nations?

I do not condone what either party did in this instance. However, we can't go around murdering each other just because someone says they hate us. Both ends of this are wrong.

Within almost every religion there exists a statement that, when summed up, would read like the Golden Rule. Why is it so difficult for people to respect one another, and use common sense and courtesy in mass quantities? Isn't that how we want to be treated? With respect and courtesy? One would think so.

And the same thing goes for hiding behind the 1st Amendment and using it without regard for responsibility. We have a certain responsibility to check ourselves, and respect others. Inciting violence through hate speech is wrong.

So, neither party in this is innocent.

"They sure didn't call them "Marines", they called them "Security"."

That's the problem. Some genius decided to leave a US ambassador and his staff in a compound without bullet proof glass, and without armed US military protection at the same time Islamists were celebrating the anniversary of 9/11.

To top it all off, with four Americans dead at the hands of Islamists, the same president who has been too busy to attend even half of his security briefings hopped a plane to attend another fund raiser in Las Vegas.

"To he!! with all of you that will choose to make a political point of this, to say it was contrived, to refuse to come together in this tragedy.....just to he!! with you."

They have names.....and families.

In addition to Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, the ceremony also honored three other Americans killed in Benghazi - Sean Smith, an Air Force veteran who worked as an information management specialist for the State Department; Glen A. Doherty, a former Navy SEAL who worked for a private security firm and was protecting the consulate in Benghazi; and Tyrone S. Woods, also a former Navy SEAL who had served protective duty in various U.S. posts.

These four men have spent their whole adult lives serving the US and now they have given their lives. They are true patriots. They were willing to put their lives on the line for America. How many of us can say the same.

Uh, the people who were killed along with the ambassador were private security contractors, much like the small army of private security contractors we pay in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. I'm sure they were armed to the teeth. As for bullet proof glass etc, I'm sure they have that as well, but that won't help much with a concentrated RPG attack.

Many of them are ex-military, one of the ones who was killed was an ex-SEAL, according to the radio this morning.

They get paid far, far more than the Marines do - anywhere from $10,000 - even $20,000 a month, as to the companies they work for - Blackwater and that spawn.

The reason given is that this frees up the Marines for combat.

In practice, this means that a lot of highly trained military quit and work for these contractors, making lots of money, and the tax payer ends up paying a whole lot more for the same thing, IMHO.

When I worked overseas, we used to hang out with the embassy marines. They did know how to throw a party. Getting embassy duty as a Marine was a great post, and if I don't disremember, pretty difficult to get.

We'll never make those animals who do this sort of thing civilized. They live and breathe to fight and kill. That's what they like to do. It's not for a religion, it's because they enjoy it. They've been acting this way for how many lifetimes. They do not want to be westernized. The governments are suppose to be protecting us when we are there. If they don't want to protect our workers then we need to get the hay out.

Why Hillary didn't send out a directive to beef up security at all our places we occupy around the world, knowing what 9/11 sparks in some, is beyond me. Using that half a$$ film as an excuse for this violence is ridiculous. This was planned long before the film was even known about. I heard on one report that the people in the streets in one city were holding up photo's of Osama Bin Laden. This was revenge for this death. All this violence is revenge for his death and all that America's has done trying to help the Muslims of the world. The extremists in these countries will never stop and "being nice" to them is surely not how we should be dealing with them.

He started replacing military security at government buildings here and abroad with private companies like Blackwater back in the early 2000's. He had another purpose for the US military, like fighting his personal wars.

It's too bad you didn't start complaining about this years ago when Bush was making these changes and wasting Clinton's surplus.

A gentle reminder that it is *your* First Amendment - not theirs. Unless/until you physically take over these countries and force them to obey your Constitution, there will be different views of the unfettered right to free speech at any and all times.

Most other Western countries, in order to live in a civilised way with multi-ethnic populations, have found it necessary to place some restrictions on such things as 'incitement to racial hatred' - which this film would certainly be.

Of course, America has every right to retain its rather simplistic 18th Century 'Amendments' - especially the First and Second - but you have to accept the results, and it seems the majority of Americans do. So really, you are left with burying your dead in honour of those two forms of words and moving on - until the next time, the next Benghazi or Columbine.

Best wishes

Freedom of speech has never been unlimited., i.e., you have no right to shout "fire" in a crowded theater or to incite violence, as was done here. Freedom of speech is worth mentioning but I am sorry, it doesn't apply to intentional acts of inciting violence.

This video was in existence but someone apparently seeded it in a systematic and coordinated fashion into various Islamic religious web sites and Islamic blogs in foreign countries where this sort or provocation has produced violent reactions in the past.

There is no way this just happened without a coordinated effort by someone or some group. The fact that Romney's reaction was so quick and appeared to be scripted makes you question the judgment of Romney and those surrounding him.

I think key words here might include extremist and minority, as opposed to normal and majority.

The majority of Americans, I think, I hope, are normal and rational, and would not abuse their rights in such a fashion, knowing that others have feelings, too. It's common courtesy. And I'm sure similar sentiments would be echoed by most of the Middle East. People want peaceful, decent lives.

But within every majority there exists a minority that would abuse those rights, ignore common human decency, and use extreme measures instead of rational behavior. That's part of having such large populations, it seems. Not everyone thinks within the same framework, and some would use negativity for their own purposes.

I think at some level, because of the size of the globe's population, we must expect a certain amount of flawed behavior. It doesn't mean we should take away freedoms for everyone, or ignore our own responsibility as part of such a population.

"So Nik thinks that if our diplomatic envoys are constantly surrounded by a few dozen heavily armed Marines that these protests won't happen?"

Nik thinks there is something wrong with an administration that makes 24/7 protection for Valerie Jarrett on her Martha's Vinyard vacation a priority, but denies Ambassador Chris Stevens and his staff the protection of Marines and armed security.

Col David Hunt, FTA: "Hunt told Breitbart News that the new State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya, approved and signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton since the 2011 fall of Khadafi's regime, severely compromised the safety and security of murdered Ambassador Stevens and all American diplomatic staff in Libya.

He also stated that the decision not to staff Benghazi with Marines was made by Secretary of State Clinton when she attached her signature to the State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya document. Breitbart News has subsequently learned that under those rules of engagement, Secretary Clinton prohibited Marines from providing security at any American diplomatic installation in Libya."

Its the responsibility of the host country to protect the embassy and diplomatic staff. Not the State Department. Not the US military.

Secondly, as stated, this guy did have security - private security contractors. The reason they don't have marine guards is because the Bush admin, in its rush to privatize everything under the sun, now has Blackwater (what ever they call it now) and their spawn getting the big fat contracts to guard diplomatic missions.

I don't think thats a good idea, do you?

It appears that which ever private security firm who has the Libya contract wanted to go the full nine yards for the Bengazi consulate office, but was turned down by the regional security officer for the State Department - see below. Thats according to one of these private, mercenary outfits that now replace the marines. You don't suppose they have a monetary interest in getting contracts to heavily guard every embassy and consulate the US has? Might stir the pot a bit, see if they can get more money?

I'd like to know just what even more security personnel would have done, given that this looks all the world like a well-planned military attack with RPGs, the attackers knew exactly where to breach, which buildings the staff were to use, etc. This isn't some riot.

Why aren't you screeching about this crazy idea of hiring mercenaries to guard diplomats - curtesy of the neocons who think everything gvt does can be done better by private companies, who take a 50% commission off the top for 'overhead'?

Third, I can't believe that you think that the secret service - who would guard Ms Jarrett, is the same as the marine corps, let alone private security contractors. Even if its true, which given your sources, is certainly open to question.

I'll reserve judgement until more of the facts about this are out - you know, find out who carried out the attack. They've arrested three people already, and we should know in good time just who did this and who backed them.

Again, this wasn't a riot, it was a full-fledged terrorist attack.

From the BBC "The US consulate in Benghazi, where the US ambassador to Libya died in an attack on Tuesday, was not given the standard security contract offered to many American diplomatic missions in the Middle East, private military contractors have told the BBC.

The consulate's walls were breached in just 15 minutes, guards were outgunned and overwhelmed and four US personnel were killed, including the Ambassador, J Christopher Stevens.

US embassies and consulates in areas of the world where they are deemed liable to attack are usually offered a formal security contract called a Worldwide Protective Services Agreement, known in the industry as a 'Wips'.

The contract, or so-called tasking order, is between the US state department and any one of several major private military contractors such as DynCorp International and Aegis Defense Services.

Under this agreement, extensive security precautions are put in place, including low-profile armoured vehicles, run-flat tyres, sufficient weapons, ammunition and trained personnel, as well as a tried and tested command and control system.

But sources have told the BBC that on the advice of a US diplomatic regional security officer, the mission in Benghazi was not given the full contract despite lobbying by private contractors.

Instead, the US consulate was guarded externally by a force of local Libyan militia, many of whom reportedly put down their weapons and fled once the mission came under concerted attack.

Possible informant?
Inside the consulate, the defenders - consisting of a small group of Libyans and private US contractors who had formerly served in the US military including the elite Navy Seals - returned fire and put into action a fall-back plan to evacuate staff to a second building.

But the defenders were quickly outgunned by the sizable and determined attacking force that used heavy weapons including rocket-propelled grenades prompting investigators to consider whether Tuesday's attack had in fact been planned in advance by a jihadist group.

"This was a well-crafted military operation [by the attackers]," said former Libyan jihadist Noman Benotman. "They would have carried out at least two weeks of surveillance."

Just to give you an idea, if you work international security for Dyncorp, the average salary is $138,000 a year.

So you can see why a lot of military guys quit and get hired by these outfits.

"Its the responsibility of the host country to protect the embassy and diplomatic staff. Not the State Department. Not the US military."

The host country didn't keep the Marines out. Hillary did.
And after our dead ambassador was dragged through the streets, she was heard asking "How could this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction?"

Genius.

denies Ambassador Chris Stevens and his staff the protection of Marines and armed security.

Another of your lies Nik.

As I posted on another thread there was armed security at the embassy. There were no Marines because your own beloved GWB changed the rules and contracted out the security at Embassies and government facilities to private contractors. Another piece of the GWB legacy. Why didn't you complain then, when the change was made?

They can't have any truth. The truth would cost them the election. They have to come up with this garbage they are spouting in an attempt to suck in enough to believe the lies and garner enough votes in an attempt to win the election.

They really believe that if they lie long enough and scream the lies loud enough they will get enough people to believe those lies and vote for them.

This time it sure looks like it isn't working, and therefore the lies will become more numerous, and the screaming of them louder and louder and louder.

They have such flawed candidate and sidekick they are beside themselves and just don't know what to do.

They created their own fiasco, their own bed, now they have to deal with it and will have to sleep in it.

Obama blames the video.
Does the blame game sound familiar???????

Obama and his yes people are still saying all of this
rioting and killing was the result of a video.
It boggles the mind.

If Obama admits the truth, that it stems from the hatred
for America and Obama himself (they are burning effigies
of Obama), then it would hurt him politically and this is about saving his political career.

The Libyan President said this act was premeditated,
many others more involved than Obama are saying it was premeditated
and Obama and Co are still saying it was the video's
fault.

Obama blames Bush....now he is blaming a video. Sheeeeez.
His blame game is getting dangerous and could put many more in harms way.

This whole situation is still unraveling, there is a lot of deliberate disinformation and politicization from all sides, all kinds of CYA, statements taken out of the context of time they were made and so on.

At a minimum, it does look as if the attack was planned ahead, that some sort of warning was given from at least one of the many militias active in Libya, but we don't know who they gave the warning to, if it was passed on, but we do know that Ambassador Stevens went ahead with his plans to meet Libyan leaders in Bengazi anyway.

But throwing around claims that the Ambassador was raped and dragged through the streets, in direct contradiction to so many other eye-witness accounts, whose agenda is that?

"The killings of the US ambassador to Libya and three of his staff were likely to have been the result of a serious and continuing security breach, The Independent can reveal.

American officials believe the attack was planned, but Chris Stevens had been back in the country only a short while and the details of his visit to Benghazi, where he and his staff died, were meant to be confidential.

The US administration is now facing a crisis in Libya. Sensitive documents have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi and the supposedly secret location of the "safe house" in the city, where the staff had retreated, came under sustained mortar attack. Other such refuges across the country are no longer deemed "safe".

Some of the missing papers from the consulate are said to list names of Libyans who are working with Americans, putting them potentially at risk from extremist groups, while some of the other documents are said to relate to oil contracts.

According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.

Mr Stevens had been on a visit to Germany, Austria and Sweden and had just returned to Libya when the Benghazi trip took place with the US embassy's security staff deciding that the trip could be undertaken safely.

Eight Americans, some from the military, were wounded in the attack which claimed the lives of Mr Stevens, Sean Smith, an information officer, and two US Marines. All staff from Benghazi have now been moved to the capital, Tripoli, and those whose work is deemed to be non-essential may be flown out of Libya.

In the meantime a Marine Corps FAST Anti-Terrorism Reaction Team has already arrived in the country from a base in Spain and other personnel are believed to be on the way. Additional units have been put on standby to move to other states where their presence may be needed in the outbreak of anti-American fury triggered by publicity about a film which demeaned the Prophet Mohamed.

It is being reported from eye witnesses and the doctor who attended the Ambassador that the men in the video were trying to save his life. They dragged him from the smoke filled "safe house" , carried him in their arms to a car and drove him to the hospital.

To use those pictures to try and paint a different picture, an anti Muslim position, is every bit as disgusting as those who deliberetly incite hatred for Americans.........and just like those radical Muslims who hate the US regardless of the facts, the Americans who are promoting these pictures
will continue to say that the Ambassador was being humiliated because it plays into their existing hatred of Muslims.

Mrsk, We can now prove "spontaneous combustion" is real!

I saw it on TV. That disgusting video, sitting around for weeks on youtube, somehow just "created" an angry mob, made it show up prepared to kill our unprotected ambassador and staff right at 9:35, and later burned our own president in effigy! Last I heard, that video had even set dozens of countries on fire! Don't call the protesters in Libya terrorists. They were just some "guys in the neighborhood" with a rocket propelled grenade. So nice to have access to an RPG when one is headed for an "unplanned" 9/11 protest.

I'm wondering why Valerie Jarrett and Hillary Clinton don't have to rely on "unarmed locals" when they vacation on Martha's Vinyard. Our dead ambassador and staff were WORKING for us in a dangerous country, and that's all they got. What's with giving serious security to vacationing Democrats, while withholding Marines and bullets from our ambassador? Oh wait, after the four Americans were dead, the administration/State Department did manage to scrounge up some Marines AND bullets for previously neglected diplomats.

By the way, reports say Chris Steven's wasn't just dragged through the streets. They say he was raped the same way Ghadaffi was. But I guess we should just ignore those reports. Along with anything the Libyan president says. No way he could know what's going on there. He's telling a different story than the administration, so he must be lying. Right?

Actually, the report I read said that some Libyans found him alive and got him to the hospital, but he died of smoke inhalation.

The smoke was so thick, he said, that you could barely see the consulate's main building.

Yet the video shows lots of activity, especially near an open window. People clambered in and out of it, aided by small flashlights and each other.

Eventually, the wounded man was carried out. Afterward, he's pictured on the ground in what appears to be a shirt and dark pants.

"He had a pulse and his eyes were moving," al-Bakush said of the man he said is Stevens. "His mouth was black from all the smoke."

With the man now outside, some yelled out," Carry him," and others said, "We need to take him ... to the hospital." A later photo, also seen online, showed the wounded man being put on another man's shoulder and whisked away.

By the time he arrived at a Benghazi hospital, it was too late.

"The body was covered with soot," said Dr. Ziad Abu, who treated Stevens that night. "I began resuscitation but after 45 minutes, the patient ... showed no signs of life."

Many questions remain about the attack that led to Stevens' death.

But if this video indeed shows the ambassador being taken from the consulate, as people thank God that he was breathing and tried to rush him to get medical help, it indicates that not everyone in Benghazi was bent on violence that night.

In fact, it appears that some men -- as evidenced by their words and actions -- were helping him, and very much wanted him to live.

"If you'd just taken some personal responsibility and made the right decisions in your life, Nik, you too could be vacationing on Martha's Vineyard."

You are exactly right! I'm such a loser. If I were Valerie Jarrett vacationing on Martha's Vinyard, my country would spare no expense to protect my life!

But I'm just a nobody. And it's the nobodies (like ambassadors serving in dangerous parts of the world) who are lucky to get unarmed locals. You know how well that worked for Chris Stevens and his staff, right?

It's a good thing important folks like Valerie Jarrett have better protection. That way, they never have to worry about Islamists dragging them through the streets of Martha's Vinyard. They don't have to worry about being tortured, their bodies going "missing" for hours, or being "carried" to the hospital by people "trying to save their lives." It could not be clearer. Some lives are way more valuable than others. Whatever it is Valerie Jarrett does, it is obviously far more important that whatever it was Chris Stevens was doing before he was murdered.

By the way, the truth has caught up with the White House. Turns out that despite the laughable BS spread around by Jay Carney, Susan Rice, and the rest of Obama's worshipful acolytes, the middle east was NOT set on fire by spontaneous combustion! Can you believe it? It was pre-planned!

It truly is curious Demi, just like you came up with the "open mik" comments, almost verbatim from the movie 2016, all on your own. Actually given Romney's recent comments on the 47% I'm thinking you are the source that FOX, the movie 2016 and Romney's campaign use, not the other way around I'm duly impressed.

See--people do see things the same way.

Or they're reading the same sources -- courtesy of the right-wing noise machine.

I came up with that all on my own!

Uh huh, sure you did.

In fact, just before you said:

From what I've read, Valerie Jarrett is the puppetmaster of Obama's administration.

I read that she called the shots--I am the one that typed puppetmaster.

I do not recall her being called a puppetmaster in the book, The Amateur, which is where I gained more information.

I had no idea she had so much influence, on both Barack and Michelle Obama.

Perhaps she was called that in the book and it stuck and I don't remember it--but in any event, that's my assessment from what I've read.

If it's someone else's term, then we think alike.

It's no different than the accusations that Rove was Bush's "puppetmaster."

Of course Demi. It is just (another) coincidence that you used(another) buzz word currently being used by the right wing media. Just a fluke like all the others.

This thread and similar show there is no limit to how low some will go. Mrsk, liars are not winners. You are a loser if have to resort to lies like these in order to pretend to be "right".

Pathetic and disgusting.

I'm out of this thread before I post something I will regret.

Ditto.

It is a coincidence, unless that term was used in the book and it stuck and I don't recall it.

Really, it matters not a whit what you think about the term or why I used it--the only thing that matters is that the term is accurate in describing Ms. Jarrett's relationship with Barack Obama, in my opinion.

All this angst over trying to paint conservatives as not thinking on their own--get this--conservatives don't care why you think as you do, who or if you parrot anyone, or if you happen to agree with people that have written the same thing or said the same thing in the media.

WHO WOULD CARE but Junior High mentality adults?

I just answered the question.

"WHO WOULD CARE but Junior High mentality adults? '

Now that is a JR high school comment! Responsible, thinking people care and can argue without the JR high insult...which of course is not a personal insult because Demi doesn't do that.

All this angst over trying to paint conservatives as not thinking on their own-

Demi, no angst at all and no effort needed. You actually make it very easy since you do it all yourself. All we have to do is read your posts and some of the other "conservatives" on this board.

A lie is a lie no matter who says it or repeats it.

I haven't lied.

From a Marine friend of mine:
"I had the privilege of attending Ty Woods' funeral this morning at the North Island Naval Air Station Chapel in Coronado. Ty and Glen Doherty are former SEALs and State Department contractors who came to the aid of the US Ambassador to Libya during the attack on the Benghazi Consulate. Ty and Glen were not assigned to the Ambassador's security detail. However,...when the attack against the Consulate came, they ran toward the sound of gunfire and and defended the facility and the Ambassador for several hours against a numerically superior assault force, and went out like rock stars after planting dozens of those scumbags.

Ty's widow, Dorothy, delivered an inspiring eulogy with more grace, poise, and fervor than I have ever witnessed from the spouse of a fallen warrior. I wish I had the entire thing on tape, as it should be read by the nation on the anniversary of 9/11 next year. Here are two quotes that I will ne
ver forget.
"It is easy to write a book about being a Navy SEAL, but it is very hard to write an obituary for one."
"To all the Operators here today I give you this charge: Rid the world of those savages. I'll say it again, RID THE WORLD OF THOSE SAVAGES!"" - 'Froggy'

So, a friend of yours sent you the latest rabid email making the rounds?

Cuz, surely you didn't mean to suggest that your friend, the Marine, wrote that, right?? Or that your friend, the Marine, was at the funeral, right? Uh hhhmm. Surely not.

Funny, when you google this all you get is the same thing you posted...some froggyruminates guy supposedly blogged about this after witnessing it at the funeral. Funny, thing... no mention of it on that blog.

Oh! Wait, if you follow froggy to twitter what do you find? SURPRISE! More of those same quoted words...he doesn't say, at all, that he actually heard/saw this or was at the funeral, either.

And it's funny, cuz you can actually find a news source with an actual, honest-to-goodness, real eulogy for Glen Doherty given by his brother. Reported.. not spread around on the Usual Right Wing Suspects. Reported.
