I pulled these plants up yesterday, all tomatoes being picked, but do these roots look deep enough or big enough? If not, what would be a remedy?
Hard to tell the scale, but IMO for the size of the plants, which look kinda small, the roots aren't too bad. A lot of the finer roots are probably still in the soil. larger plants would have made bigger roots. I grow in containers using a fast draining loose mix, and the roots usually grow right through the container and out the drain holes into the ground. Loose, well drained soil, and decent fertilizer should make big healthy plants and big roots.
Thanks, on another post I've gotten a lot of good advice about the fertilizer and compost that I'll be adding next season
Were these grow in a container ? what size? what kind of plant ? Soil ?
