Japanese Aralia at Costco ...

I've been looking for a Japanese aralia for years. The only ones I could find were at Rainbow Gardens from Monrovia (always pricy) at $39.00. I was thrilled to have found some today at Costco in a mixed group of 'houseplants' for $12, five plants in the pot.

They make a good shady porch/patio pot plant that can be left out all year and a wonderful big leaved tropical plant for shady parts of the garden since they are hardy down to zero degrees.

Just thought I'd pass it along ... :-)

Here is a link that might be useful: Japanese aralia on Google ...

very pretty what store were they are? I mean location? I did find some of the yellow shrimp plants on the "dead table" at lowes. I have them in the ground now, they look great!

They were at the store on I-10 in San Antonio. I thought perhaps other stores might have them in also.

Congrats on making a great find at Lowes!

Roselee, my big beautiful Japanese Aralias (fatsia joponica) didn't survive the summer. I'll be replacing them when it gets cooler because they're so beautiful. I got mine at Calloway's. Can't remember how much I paid, but not more than $10 for a gallon plant. I may wait until spring. Lou

That's it Jim. I love that plant. I wonder how easy it is to grow from seed. Your starting EEs from seed inspired me to plant Voodoo lily seeds and they are doing great.
