black spots on smaller varieties of tomatoes???

djonesc(zone 5/99022 - spokane area)August 10, 2012

hi ...

i have grown tomatoes for years and years (better boy for canning and eating) and never hve had a problem with them ... this year, though, i planted red pear tomatoes, sweet 1M, some yellow pear that are not ready yet ... the red pear and the tiny sweet 1M have black spots ... the black spots are near the bottom and some seem to be surrounded with a greenish/yellow *halo* ... they taste good but ... not so good looking ....

what can be causing this ... the better boys are fine ....

thanks for any help .... darlene, yakima/selah wa

Could you post a picture of some of the tomatoes please? It would help a great deal. From your description it could be several different things and we could only guess at the cause.

Are there any signs of pests? Stinkbugs? Fruitworms? How do the plants themselves look? Any signs of disease?
