Can anyone identify this fern by its correct name? It's stems are thorny.
Maybe asparagus plumosus, Asparagus fern, Emerald fern.
Thanks Jim! That's it. I'm glad I finally know what to call it, especially since I gave a start of it to Tonya at the swap :-)
Remember when that was the foliage on Mothers' day corsages? At least that was what was used in the valley when I was a kid.
Kathy, I'm sorry to say, I do remember. Ha!
Yeah, me too. It was used in lots of flower shop arrangements.
They used them all over The Valley I lived in too :) Baskets of it, pots of it, corsages with it, and floral arrangements too. It sure was popular. I'll bet it makes a comeback with the mid century modern phase we're hitting.... again.
The Emerald fern is blooming! BTW, it's not a true fern or it wouldn't bloom. I just posted a picture of the blooms on the Texas Gallery and am shamelessly reminding you all to go there once in a while and check out the photos :-)
I need all the reminders I can get!
