Hmmm, did somebody "fib" just a little?

yborgalOctober 12, 2012

Last evening, Vice President Joe Biden accused Rep. Paul Ryan of putting two wars on the "credit card," and then suggested that he had voted against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"I was there, I voted against them," Biden continued. "I said, no, we cant afford that."

But, in truth, Sen. Biden voted for the Afghanistan resolution on Sept. 14, 2001 which authorized "the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States."

And on Oct. 11, 2002, Biden voted for a resolution authorizing unilateral military action in Iraq, according to the Washington Post.

You know how this is going to go. Pretty quick someone will say that it's okay for Biden to lie because they claim "the Republicans lie."

By the way, we figured either Biden has dementia or he was intentionally lying. Wonder which it was.

It's not dementia because he's been an idiot for the last 25 years that I know of him. Gee, it's such a surprise that he would lie!!! His interruptions and laugh were his way of getting Ryan off of the track when Ryan was showing America what a liar Joe Biden and BO are. His shananigans are backfiring on him. No one wants a man as VP who laughs and jokes about subject matter that influences their life and the lives of their families. He's a joke and on his way out. I think I'll call him tomorrow to let him know U Haul has a sale right now on moving boxes and he can claim that on his taxes. LOL

OFFICIAL INTERRUPTION COUNT: 116 times in under 40 minutes. Moderator interrupted Ryan 34 times, Biden interrupted Ryan 82 times.

I notice Ryan tried telling the fib about the inspector general found that "friends and family" got money from the Obama administrations $535 million loan guarantee for Solyndra. Unfortunately that was debunked ages ago & Biden snapped him off before he even got it off the ground.

I believe he also "mis-spoke" about the attack in which our Ambassador was murdered. The official story was a lie... a cover-up; everybody knows it and now the story is changing once again.
And his biggest lie of the night was when he said he only says what he means. He only says what he needs to say in order to present himself and the POTUS in the best light possible. And that's getting harder and harder to do.

In truth, Biden voted for going after the people responsible for 9/11, who happened to be hiding in Afghanistan. And what an outcry there would have been if he and others hadn't. He did not vote for a war. Big difference, as you may or may not know.

Biden voted to invade Iraq after Colin Powell, a Republican and Secretary of State under Bush, went before the United Nations and swore there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Biden later said the war had been a mistake because it had been mishandled under Bush and there were no weapons of mass destruction. He also introduced a bill, which did not pass, that the US should go to war only after all other diplomatic measures had been exhausted.

Yes, "someone" did fib just a little......

Right. I'm sure he thought that if we just asked nicely....

Either he voted for war, or he's showing his senility again. Which is it? Not saying it was wrong to vote to go into Afghanistan, Ingrid. But saying he didn't afterward, is.

Bill, I'm not sure we understand each other. Going after Osama Bin Laden, a terrorist who was responsible for killing over 3000 Americans, is not declaring war against Afghanistan. We were not fighting the Afghan government or the Afghan people. This was a military action against a terrorist group who happened to be holed up in Afghanistan. I'm not clear on what happened to turn this into a war that has lasted for many years but that is not what Joe Biden was authorizing after 9/11.

No Bill.... This did not take 2 wars and thousands more deaths of our young men and women and a load of money.

This is how this is what going after the people responsible for 9/11 should have happened.

President Obama's Speech on Osama Bin Laden

President Obama announced on May 1, 2011, that Osama bin Laden had been killed. This is the full text of his speech.

I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.

Bush said he wouldn't waste his time pursing Bin Laden.

SIX MONTHS after 9/11. In response to a reporters question, President Bush tells the world that he is "truly not that concerned" with catching the man who murdered 3,000 Americans just six months and two days earlier because "we've marginalized him."
Puh lease he was more concerned with murdering Iraqi civilians with his shock & szhyte & convincing US citizens that Iraq was more important than Bin Laden. :Like a cheap street Monty dealer playing now yah see it now you don't. Disgraceful pack of scoundrels with war on the cheap.

The consensus is that Biden won the debate. Sorry to deflate your balloon. Of course Faux gave it to Ryan, some called it a draw, but most polls gave it to Biden. Funny none of you cared last week when Romney interrupted Obama constantly and with the ineffectual Leher got away with it. Where was your outrage then? Hypocrisy at it's worse.

Comprehension from the RIGHT seems to be a HUGE problem all over this country. Do the Reps and Dems go to different schools? Do the Dems get a better education?....because it sure seems so.

Tis the political inanity season, approaching the insantity season. It's all Abe Lincoln's fault for freeing the slaves and enslaving the South in the Union. Without Lincoln Emancipation Proclamation, there would be no black voters and no half-black President and middle-aged white guys would rule the world.

"The consensus is that Biden won the debate. Sorry to deflate your balloon."

No problem. Biden did something even BETTER than winning. He refocused attention on sworn testimony by former diplomatic personnel in Benghazi. These folks begged for more security for the ambassador and staff prior to the terrorist attack on Obama's watch, on 9/11. Joe blew it all off, claiming he and Obama had NO IDEA Americans were pleading with this administration for help that never came. We know it wasn't a big deal to these two. Within hours of the attack, Obama was out partying in Las Vegas instead of finding out what the hell happened.

Thanks to VP Chucklehead, we've been reminded of the administration's failure to provide even minimal protection for the Americans who work for us. Biden's inappropriate snickering, laughter, and rudeness are worth a thousand words. Americans could see his lack of professionalism and seriousness. As a woman, I wouldn't answer the door to someone behaving as Biden did. God help us, he was hamming it up before the cameras for all the world to see. The idea of this clown being a heartbeat away from the presidency should keep the adults in this country up at night.

I agree 100% with Matt Taibbi:

I've never thought much of Joe Biden. But man, did he get it right in last night's debate, and not just because he walloped sniveling little Paul Ryan on the facts. What he got absolutely right, despite what you might read this morning (many outlets are criticizing Biden's dramatic excesses), was his tone. Biden did absolutely roll his eyes, snort, laugh derisively and throw his hands up in the air whenever Ryan trotted out his little beady-eyed BS-isms.

But he should have! He was absolutely right to be doing it. We all should be doing it. That includes all of us in the media, and not just paid obnoxious-opinion-merchants like me, but so-called "objective" news reporters as well. We should all be rolling our eyes, and scoffing and saying, "Come back when you're serious."

If you recall from the Bush Era, EVERYBODY was taken in by "the weapons of mass destruction".

Baloney. Complete bull.

As far as Biden's vote authorizing the use of force is Iraq in 2002, that vote WAS NOT a vote FOR Bush to invade Iraq. This vote was set up by the bUsh administration as part of Bush's march to Invade Iraq.
They constructed it as a test of patriotism , i.e., do you support military action if..

Many Democrats including Biden voted for that authorization but did NOT believe that was carte blanche for Bush to do what he did without exhausting dipomatic options.

Prior to this vote, Senators Biden and Richard Lugar tried to pass a resolution authorizing military action ...only after the exhaustion of diplomatic efforts.

Remember what Bush did once the vote authorizing force was made. Inspectors were on the ground in Iraq and Bush pulled them.

Most Democrats who voted FOR the resolution authorizing military force in Iraq did not expect Bush to lie, to withhold information, to misrepresent facts, and to conduct a campaign for war like we have never seen from a US President.

When Bush declared that he was no longer concerned about Bin Laden it was because he needed Bin Laden to be on the loose during the Bush/Cheney drum beating period up to the Iraqi invasion. During the summer of 2002 recall the rumors (esp from the right) that Saddam might give his friend Bin Laden a nuke to deliver to US. If Bin Laden was already dead then convincing the population to be super scared of Saddam would fail, particularly since we were already deeply involved in Afghanistan. IMHO, Rummy & Cheney looked the other way when Bin Laden escaped Tora Bora, to keep the fear alive.
