China's new leader looks promising for US!

tobr24u(z6 RI)November 14, 2012

Mr, Xi will be taking the helm there soon and word has it that he likes the West and us. People say that he is boring rather than belligerent,. He has been to the US and was impressed by the average person's standard of living. Mr Xi's rise to power could mean good things for China, us and the rest of the world...

You are kidding, right.

China, for the last 2000 or so years, has been focused on world domination. For the last 1900 years, their view of the world was rather limited, but not any more.

They hold the US, and the rest of the west, in complete contempt, and will continue to do anything and everything they can to bring down the west. And they will use any means available.

The fact that they hold so much US debt is very, very troubling, and may eventually lead to our undoing as a world power if we don't get our borrowing under control.

The Chinese have been unloading their US holdings for at least three years now...especially US Treasuries. The OPEC countries did the same thing before the Great Recession. The US government has been stepping in more and more and buying their own Treasury Bonds to avert the collapse of the dollar.

Other major holders are Japan, US public and private pension systems.

I don't know what these sweeping charges about China are based on. By 2050, India's economy will be on par with the US and about half of China's.

Have to assume some deep, personal trauma there, for which understanding may be necessary. . .

2000 years of World Domination and they still seem to be basically in, well, China. Compared to a youthful upstart like the United States who - it goes without saying - has never intended World Domination but just sort of stumbled into it in 60-odd years and have military bases and hamburger joints in half the countries of the world, the Chinese don't seem to got very far, yet.

Or are we witnessing a shift back to the good old 'Communism' enemy, the Dastardly Red Devils, the Muslim-thing having sort of sputtered out in an embarrassed mess of surges and strategic withdrawals and generals pulling their pants up?

Best wishes
Jon

Fouqueria, "The Chinese have been unloading their US holdings for at least three years now...especially US Treasuries" - what do you base that on? The $120 billion drop shown in the US Treasury stats shown below is nothing. and Japan has more than offset the Chinese drop. Where do you think China will be investing? Nowhere else, that's where.

Tobr, you might want to get out and see the US. Chinese visitors are in many major US (and Canadian) major cities. tourism abounds...and is driving wages up in China!

Exactly right, on ALL counts.

"Hold so much of our debt"

That must scare the Chinese financial community to have so much tied up in this crazy country's treasury environs.
